Most Holy Christ of Patronage Festival in Brunete
Every September Brunete holds its patronal festivities around the Santísimo Cristo del Patrocinio, the Most Holy Christ of Patronage. Religious devotion is joined by peñas, music, community activities, sport and gatherings in Plaza Mayor and the surrounding streets.
When it is held
The principal day is 14 September, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Events begin in the preceding days and worship continues afterwards.
See the Brunete 2026 festival programme.
Devotion and history
Council material links devotion to the Cristo del Patrocinio to the 17th century and to protection sought during epidemics and adversity. The image is central to Brunete's shared identity, while its brotherhood maintains religious and community practices passed between generations.
Main venues
Nuestra Señora de la Asunción parish church hosts the lowering, triduum, Mass and raising of the image. Plaza Mayor is used for the opening address, orchestras and community gatherings. The procession passes through Brunete's streets, while the bullring, bandstand, sports centre and other council venues host the remaining activities.
