Virgen de la Soledad Patronal Festival in Horche

Horche dedicates its patronal festival to Nuestra Señora la Virgen de la Soledad. Worship of the patron is interwoven with floats and peñas, the traditional Ronda, live music, community activities and the field bull runs associated with this town in Guadalajara province.

Usual date

The principal observances take place around 8 September, the day of the solemn Mass and procession. A pre-festival programme generally extends the celebrations through the preceding days.

Where it is held

The Virgen's hermitage and the parish church define the religious journey made by the image. Plaza Mayor hosts many community events, open-air dances and performances; Parque de Tormentas, the bullring, sports centre, football ground and other municipal sites complete the festival map.

The Virgen de la Soledad

The image is brought in procession from its hermitage to the parish church before the principal days. A solemn Mass and procession are held in her honour on 8 September. The closing rites include the peñas' Mass, the Ronda and the return of the venerated image to the hermitage.
