2026 Santísimo Cristo de la Esperanza festivities programme in Algete

Preliminary events begin on 30 August, the main programme runs from 10 to 14 September 2026, and the religious and sporting calendar continues until 20 September.

Sunday 30 August to Wednesday 9 September

  • 30 August, 11:30: IV Swimming Championship, Piscina Municipal; after the 11:30 Mass, lowering of the Santísimo Cristo to its carriage and kissing of the feet.
  • 31 August to 3 September, 17:00: parchís championship, Centro Municipal del Mayor.
  • 31 August to 4 September and 7 to 9 September, 20:30-02:00: mus championship.
  • 1-9 September, 19:30: Mass and novena to the Santísimo Cristo de la Esperanza.
  • 4 September, 18:00: second-hand sports equipment market, municipal sports centre; I Street Soccer at the velodrome futsal court; tennis and padel tournament on 4-6 September, Ciudad Deportiva Duque de Algete.
  • 5 September: 09:30-14:00, 3x3 basketball, pabellón Duque de Algete; 10:00-14:00, street football, campo Víctor García Munera; 10:30-14:00, table tennis at Ciudad Deportiva; 12:00, Ruta de Peñas through the town; 17:00, Summer Fanegas Fest, Casa de la Juventud court; 19:00-22:00, youth parade from plaza de la Constitución to parque Europa.
  • 6 September: 09:00-15:00, senior seven-a-side football, campo Gaby Moya; 11:00, artistic skating and Memorial David Bárcena; 12:00, Disco Roller; 18:00, skills clinic at parque Europa and Villa de Algete football trophy at campo Víctor García Munera.
  • 9 September, after the 19:30 Mass: floral offering to the Santísimo Cristo.

Thursday 10 September

  • 18:00: family parade and cabezudos from plaza de la Constitución to the fairground; ringing for Vespers.
  • 19:30: Mass.
  • 23:00: solemn Miserere and admission of new brotherhood members, parish church of Asunción de Nuestra Señora.
  • 23:30: opening address, plaza de la Constitución.
  • 23:50: opening firework and pyrotechnics from the Town Hall roof.
  • 00:00: Orquesta Marsella, plaza de la Constitución.
  • 03:30: night-time release of cattle, El Arenal bullring.

Friday 11 September

  • 10:00: Mass; 11:00: children's park at parque Europa; 11:30: collection of the Hermano Mayor.
  • 12:00: concelebrated Mass; 13:00: Tapa Original and roaming charanga; about 13:15: brotherhood gathering.
  • 21:00: Santísimo Cristo procession from the parish church; about 22:30: auction of the standard and carriage handles; about 22:40: reverence and kissing of the feet.
  • 22:30: pyrotechnic display, plaza de la Constitución; 00:00: Orquesta La Reina Show, plaza de la Constitución.
  • 01:00: children's night-time bull run with a carretón, calle La Paloma; 00:30-05:30: DJ at the municipal sports centre.

Saturday 12 September

  • 10:00: children's bull run and recortes with a carretón, El Arenal; 11:00: bull run and release of cattle from camino de Valderrey.
  • 12:00: Mass for deceased brotherhood members; 13:00: children's bueyada and paella competition at parque Europa; 16:00: Atrapa la canción.
  • 18:00: recortes competition, El Arenal; 22:00: Queen Revolution, municipal sports centre.
  • 00:00: pyromusical display, avenida Miguel de Unamuno; 00:30: Orquesta Voltaje Nova Show and DJ Lity, plaza de la Constitución; 00:30-05:30: DJ at the sports centre; 01:00: children's night-time run with a carretón, calle La Paloma.

Sunday 13 and Monday 14 September

  • Sunday 13, 11:00: country bull run, finca Llano del Campo; 12:00: Family Day at parque Europa; 13:00: Tapa Caldereta and charanga; 18:00: Grand Prix; 23:00: Orquesta Embrujo, plaza de la Constitución.
  • Monday 14, 11:00: children's run at El Arenal and games and inflatables in parque Europa; 13:00: afternoon entertainment and migas, plaza de la Constitución; 18:00: bull run, Toro de los Mozos and release of heifers, El Arenal; 19:30: Mass; 21:30: Rubén Simeó and Banda de Música Villa de Algete, plaza de la Constitución.

Later activities

  • 18 September: outdoor cinema at parque Fernando Fernán Gómez.
  • 19 September: 10:00-15:00, classic cars; 11:00-14:00, inflatables; 12:00, children's bull run; 13:00, mus championship and paella competition; 23:00-03:00, Versión Clandestina and Cuban DJ in urbanización Santo Domingo. Futsal, chess and club presentation tournaments also take place over the weekend.
  • 20 September, after the 12:00 Mass: return of the Santísimo Cristo to his altar.
