Local festivals in Salceda de Caselas

The Cristo das Angurias festivities are usually celebrated around the third Sunday in July. Two weeks of cultural events lead to the main weekend, whose opening is announced by the Estourazo from the balcony of Casa da Cultura Castelao in Praza do Concello. On Sunday, a civic ceremony honouring distinguished people from Salceda recognises their contribution to the municipality's social life.

Festa dos Callos

On the first Sunday in September, the Festa dos Callos has brought thousands of people to Praza do Concello since 1993. More than fifty volunteers prepare and serve the dish, while cultural and leisure events accompany the food celebration. The festival continues a local custom also seen at the Wednesday market, when hospitality venues serve small portions of callos.

Other events: Reis and Entroido ranchos

The Rancho de Reis has a distinctive formation in which two dancers compete for a lady to the sound of bagpipes and a side drum; she chooses the winner and dances a ribeirá with him. The Rancho de Entroido expands the formation to six dancers and two ladies, adding a bass drum to the music. The A Feira Cultural Association keeps both traditions alive, linked to an Entroido history spanning more than a century in Salceda.
