Our Lady of the Conception Festivities in Navalcarnero
Navalcarnero holds its patronal festivities in honour of Our Lady of the Conception in the first half of September, combining a procession and flower offering with music, events for all ages and bull festivities.
Usual date
The programme runs through the first half of September, with 8 September as the Fiesta Mayor. The eve features the Salve and fireworks; solemn Mass and the patron's procession take place on the main day.
Where it is held
Nuestra Señora de la Asunción parish church hosts the novena, Salve and solemn Mass. Plaza de Segovia is the main setting for concerts and gatherings, while the bull runs follow streets in the town centre to the Félix Colomo bullring.

History of the bull runs
The Town Council documents bull festivities in Navalcarnero from 1649, when bulls were brought for capeas linked to the wedding ceremonies of Philip IV and Mariana of Austria. In 1650, royal permission authorised an annual bullfight on 9 September. That tradition continues in today's patronal festival bull runs.
