San Bartolomé Festivities in Itsaso

The San Bartolomé festivities are the patronal celebration of Itsaso, a community within Ezkio-Itsaso in Gipuzkoa. Worship, shared meals, music, games and sport come together in familiar local settings.

Usual date

The central day is 24 August, the feast of San Bartolomé. Events are normally arranged around that date and may extend over two weekends.

See the 2026 San Bartolomé festivities programme for Itsaso.

Where it is held

The celebration takes place in Itsaso. The official programme identifies the church portico, the Ostatu, the cemetery and Goiko Ostatu, alongside other community spaces.

Events and customs

High Mass on 24 August anchors the patronal observance. Pilota, mus, toka and mountain biking sit alongside the community lunch, paella competition, barbecue, hot chocolate and live music.

The cemetery Mass and a local heritage presentation in the 2026 edition also connect the festivities with community memory and knowledge of Itsaso.

A community-scale celebration

Tickets sold through the Ostatu, local registration arrangements and events for different ages point to a strongly participatory festival. Details vary by edition, so visitors should confirm times in the annual programme.
