Ferixa Nausikoak in Elorrio
Ferixa Nausikoak is Elorrio's principal festival in Biscay. Across several days it combines a livestock, agricultural and craft fair with music, kuadrillas, food, sport, performing arts and activities for all ages.
Celebration date
It is usually held during the first half of September. The exact dates and order of events vary each year; Elorrio Council's 2026 programme ran from 4 to 13 September and placed the Ferixa on 6 September.

Where it is held
Events take place across Elorrio's town centre and several dedicated venues. The plaza, Aldatsekua, Urarka, Ganondo, the pelota court, sports centre, Elizalde and other spaces each host parts of the programme. The locations of txosnas, concerts and some routes may change from one edition to the next.
The Ferixa
The day that gives the festival its identity brings the livestock, agricultural and craft fair to Ferixalekua. Farmers, makers and livestock breeders present their produce and animals, while street music accompanies an occasion connecting the present-day festival with Elorrio's fair-going tradition.
Events and traditions
- The opening rocket and address, followed by a tamborrada and live music.
- The livestock, agricultural and craft fair, with txistulari and txaranga street parades.
- The kuadrillas' meal, games and parade into town.
- Sukalki Eguna, a food-centred day built around the stew competition.
- A float parade, giants, fire bull, romerĂas and concerts.
- Basque rural sports, bertsolaris, dance, circus, street theatre and sports fixtures.
Organisation and participation
The council, Festival Commission, associations, sports clubs and volunteers build a participatory programme together. Children, young people, kuadrillas and older residents each have their own activities and days, while the council programme includes measures for an equal, safe and respectful festival.
