Santo Cristo de Santiago Festival in Cariñena
Cariñena honours Santo Cristo de Santiago with an opening rocket, cabezudos, peñas, music, religious observances, bull events and family activities.
Usual date
11 to 16 September, with preliminary events on 10 September and the Day of the Cross on 14 September. See the official 2026 programme.
Day of the Cross
The solemn Mass and procession on 14 September carry the image of Santo Cristo from the parish church to its chapel.
Street traditions
Cabezudos, Cariñena-style Toro de Ronda events, street music, peñas and the final pobre de mí shape the festival.
Venues
Plaza de España, Calle Mayor, Garnacha Fórum, Jesús Arruga bullring, Casa de Cultura and the swimming pools host the events.
