Tejeda Virgen del Socorro Patronal Festival 2026 programme

The official programme runs from Saturday 29 August to Friday 9 October 2026. It comprises popular events, religious observances, a novena across the municipality, the offering pilgrimage and a day for older residents.

Saturday 29 August

  • 06:30, petrol station: the walk sets off for Cruz de Tejeda; at 07:30, it continues from Cruz de Tejeda to Teror. Advance registration is required.

Friday 4 September

  • 12:00, Museo Abraham Cárdenes: opening of Los trajes de la Virgen del Socorro, an exhibition of the Virgin's robes.
  • 20:30, Plaza de La Vaguada: children's lip-sync show, followed by hot dogs for the children.

Saturday 5 September

  • 11:00, church: Eucharist, followed by the raising of the flag and the distribution of ribbons and wristbands.
  • 11:00, Plaza del Socorro: opening of the Tejeda, paisaje y producto local 2026 food market; demonstrations at 13:00 and 13:45, and music at 14:00.
  • 12:30, municipal park: ceremony naming the park Parque D. Diego Cruz Hernández.
  • 20:30, Plaza de La Vaguada: adult lip-sync show.
  • 23:00, Plaza de La Vaguada: open-air dance with Estrella Latina and Los Peques.

Sunday 6 and Monday 7 September

  • Sunday, 19:00, football ground: match between single and partnered players.
  • Monday, 13:00, petrol station: coach departs for the offering pilgrimage to Virgen del Pino. Advance registration is required; Tejeda appears fifth in the procession with a Sabores de la Cumbre-themed float.

Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 September

  • Wednesday, 18:00-20:00, La Vaguada multi-purpose hall: workshop making wool pillows, including wool reddening and carding, plus a screening of Campamento trashumante y etnográfico de Gran Canaria 2025.
  • Thursday, 18:00-20:00, La Vaguada multi-purpose hall: potato bread workshop and traditional cheese tasting.

Friday 11 September

  • 20:30, Plaza de La Vaguada: opening address by shepherds from the island's mid-altitude and highland areas.
  • 22:00: performance by Mujeres D.
  • 23:00, Plaza de La Vaguada: open-air dance with Swing del Mambo and Grupo Arena.

Saturday 12 September

  • 10:00, Cueva Carnera: livestock fair.
  • 17:00, Plaza del Socorro: children's games.
  • 20:45, Plaza de La Vaguada: Tarahore Son 21.
  • 22:00: Ráfagas de Cumbia, Los Grandes Éxitos de la Cumbia.
  • 23:00: dance night with Factoría del Swing, Una Más and Furia Joven.
  • 19:30: novena serving El Rincón, Era del Llano, Peña Rajada, Juan Fernández and Guardaya.

Sunday 13 September: principal day

  • 07:30: musical reveille with Banda Isleña.
  • 11:00, church: solemn Eucharist in honour of Nuestra Señora del Socorro, with the Voces de Tejeda choir; procession through the streets afterwards, accompanied by the army band.
  • 19:30: novena serving El Pueblo, Lugar del Medio, La Tosca, Lomito las Lajas and Cruz Blanca.
  • 21:00, Plaza del Socorro: talk by official municipal chronicler Serafina Suárez García, Compartiendo memorias de nuestra historia: un espacio para el recuerdo.

Monday 14 to Thursday 17 September

  • Monday 14, 13:30, La Vaguada car park: festival sancocho; EUR3, free for children under 12.
  • Monday 14, 19:30: novena serving La Degollada, Lomo de los Santos, La Erilla, El Majuelo and Las Crucitas.
  • Tuesday 15, 18:00-20:00, La Vaguada multi-purpose hall: rag-bag workshop.
  • Tuesday 15, 19:30: novena serving La Culata, Cuevas Caídas, La Cumbre, Juan Gómez, Los Manantiales, Las Huertas and La Peña.
  • Wednesday 16, 18:00-20:00, La Vaguada multi-purpose hall: wool accessories workshop, La flor del almendro.
  • Wednesday 16, 20:00, Centro de Plantas Medicinales: wine pairing, with advance registration and limited places.
  • Wednesday 16, 19:30: novena serving Casas de la Huerta, Casas del Lomo, Huerta del Barranco, Las Moradas and Galindo.
  • Thursday 17, 18:00-20:00, La Vaguada multi-purpose hall: natural dyes and felted wool workshop.
  • Thursday 17, 19:30: novena serving La Solana, El Chorrillo, El Espinillo, El Roque and La Higuerilla.

Friday 18 September

  • 19:30: novena serving El Carrizal, El Toscón, El Juncal, Timagada, Ronda, El Aserrador and Ayacata.
  • 20:30, Plaza de La Vaguada: performance by Lanzarote group Acatife.
  • 22:30, Árbol Bonito: street music night with Línea DJ's.

Saturday 19 September: offering pilgrimage

  • 17:00: the image leaves for El Motor with the highland shepherds and Parranda Casas de Aguilar Canariedad.
  • 17:30: the offering begins; produce donated by the neighbourhoods is given to people in need with Cáritas Diocesana de Canarias.
  • 21:00: the image returns to the church.
  • 21:30: thanksgiving Eucharist.
  • 23:00: baile de taifas with Los Chanos, Pal Porrón de Lanzarote and El Pajullo, followed by an open-air dance with D Music.

Sunday 20 September

  • 19:30: novena for people from Tejeda who live elsewhere.
  • 20:30, Plaza de La Vaguada: mariachi performance at Tejeda's second Noche Mexicana.

Friday 9 October: older residents' day

  • 12:00: commemorative Mass.
  • 13:30, La Vaguada multi-purpose hall: lunch and live music; anyone needing transport should contact the Town Council's Social Services department.
  • 20:30, Club de Pensionistas y Simpatizantes Texeda: zanga card championship.
