Our Lady of La Vega Festival in Haro: 2026 programme

The official programme brings together events from 3 to 13 September 2026. The novena starts on 29 August, 8 September is the patron's feast day, and the Jira on the 12th provides the traditional conclusion.

Notice: the Town Council may alter, postpone or cancel activities. Check municipal information before attending and follow the safety instructions for fireworks, fire bulls and the Jira.

Novena: 29 August to 6 September

  • 19:30: Rosary in the Basilica de la Vega, followed by the novena and Mass. On 6 September, new members of the brotherhood receive their medals after Mass.

Thursday 3 and Friday 4 September

  • Thursday 3, 17:00: children's trout and carp fishing competition for ages 8 to 11, Parque Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente.
  • Friday 4, 17:00: children's fishing competition for ages 12 to 16, Parque Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente.

Saturday 5 September

  • 19:00: Fiesta Ska Reggae music festival, El Ferial sports centre car park.
  • 20:00: punk rock concert by RDT, Türbot and Brigada Suicida at the same car park.
  • 22:30: Viñahouse Haro 2026 house music event, Plaza San Martín.

Sunday 6 September: Riscos de Bilibio

  • 09:00: morning music from Plaza de la Paz, opening rocket and departure of the romeros for the Bilibio fields. The Haromas agricultural and food market starts in the square at the same time.
  • 10:00: Mass in honour of San Felices at Riscos de Bilibio.
  • 11:00: 5th San Felices timed stair race and ascent with Peña Los Veteranos's brass band.
  • 11:30: children's games and workshops.
  • 12:00: tastings of marisco jarrero, potatoes with chorizo and Martínez Lacuesta vermouth.
  • 13:30: paella competition; dishes are cooked in the city and presented at Bilibio.
  • 14:30: communal country lunch.
  • 17:30: prize draw and proclamation of Guapa y Damas de Bilibio 2026.
  • 18:30: descent of the romeros and traditional Vueltas in Plaza de la Paz.
  • 19:00: flower offering and Salve to Our Lady of La Vega in the basilica.

Monday 7 September

  • 11:00: children's running of papier-mâché bulls around the youth centre.
  • 11:30: giants and big-headed figures set off; cava and grape-juice tasting in Plaza de la Paz.
  • 12:00: opening ceremony and first rocket from the Town Hall balcony, followed by giants and big-headed figures.
  • 12:15: music by Charanga Irulitxa, Electrocharanga Lokomotores and Peña Cachondeo's brass band in Plaza de la Paz and La Herradura.
  • 12:30: migas with grapes tasting, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 13:30-15:00 and 17:00-20:30: family show Los amigos de Crusó, Parque de los Pintores Tubía y Santamaría.
  • 19:45: the municipal corporation walks from Plaza de la Paz to the basilica with Haro's municipal band.
  • 20:00: Vespers and solemn Salve in the basilica; hot-dog and Rioja wine tasting in Plaza de la Paz.
  • 20:30 and 23:30: Orquesta Marsella in Plaza de la Paz.
  • 21:00: festival proclamation by Luis de la Fuente Castillo at Teatro Bretón de los Herreros.
  • 21:30: Charanga Irulitxa street parade through La Herradura.
  • 22:00: potato gathering at Peña Cachondeo's premises, followed by music in Plaza San Martín and La Herradura.

Tuesday 8 September: Our Lady of La Vega

  • 10:00: pontifical Mass in the basilica, followed by grape-treading, offering of the first must, flower offering and compliment competition.
  • 13:30: Mariachi Imperial de Guanajuato in Plaza de la Paz and La Herradura; family show El último caballero in Plaza de la Iglesia de Santo Tomás.
  • 14:00: concert by Haro's municipal band, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 18:00: Mariachi Imperial de Guanajuato, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 19:00: family show El brujito de Gulugú, Panteón de los Liberales.
  • 20:30: Rosario de Faroles de Cristal procession from the basilica, Salve in Plaza de la Paz and, upon returning, hand-kissing ceremony and distribution of ears of wheat.
  • 22:30: Charanga Gesaltza accompanies the route from Plaza de la Paz and La Herradura to Parque de El Mazo and back.
  • 23:30: Pirotecnia Zaragozana fireworks, Parque de El Mazo.
  • 00:00: Marcover concert, Plaza de la Paz.

Wednesday 9 September

  • 12:00: big-headed figures visit CEIP San Felices de Bilibio.
  • 16:00-21:00: children's park in Jardines de la Vega.
  • 17:30: children's party with Disco Móvil Krossko, foam and refreshments, Parque Manuel Anzuela.
  • 18:30: espadrille-throwing competition in Jardines de la Vega.
  • 20:30 and 23:00: Disco Móvil Krossko, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 21:30: popular fancy-dress competition, Plaza de la Paz.

Thursday 10 September

  • 11:15: big-headed figures visit Colegio Sagrado Corazón.
  • 18:30: children's show Los tropezantes, Calle Antonio Larrea.
  • 20:00: tasting in Plaza de la Paz and Peña La Jarana's brass band through La Herradura.
  • 20:30 and 23:00: Disco Móvil Krossko, Plaza de la Paz.

Friday 11 September

  • 11:15: big-headed figures visit CEIP Nuestra Señora de la Vega.
  • 18:30: float parade from Avenida de Juan Carlos I via Plaza de Castañares, Avenida de La Rioja, Plaza de Monseñor Florentino Rodríguez and Calle de la Vega, with entertainment and the finale of Los aguadores in Jardines de la Vega.
  • 20:00: tastings by Peña Iturri and Peña Cachondeo, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 20:30: children's bingo, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 21:00 and 00:00: Orquesta Jaguar, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 21:30: street parade from Plaza de la Paz with Peña Los Veteranos's brass band.
  • 23:30: adult bingo, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 02:30: Macro Disco Móvil Eclipse, Plaza de la Paz.

Saturday 12 September: Jira day

  • 10:30: children's park in the El Mazo heated swimming-pool car park.
  • 11:00: children's bull run around the youth centre.
  • 11:30: giants and big-headed figures leave the youth centre along the announced route.
  • 12:00: caldereta competition at Fuente El Moro; dishes presented to the jury at 14:30.
  • 16:00: gathering of peñas and brass bands, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 17:00: peñas depart for the Jira country outing at Fuente El Moro.
  • 18:00: children's workshops at Fuente El Moro.
  • At dusk: return with street music and torches to Teatro Bretón; fire bulls and Entierro de la Cuba ending in Plaza de la Iglesia.
  • 23:00: Épika Show, Plaza de la Paz.
  • 00:00: closing fire bulls, Plaza de la Paz.

Sunday 13 September

  • 10:00: motocross event counting towards the Basque Country, Navarre and La Rioja championship, circuit beside the motorway toll station.
