Local festivals in Riba-roja de Túria
The principal festivities are usually celebrated around the Assumption on 15 August and the Santísimo Cristo de los Afligidos, whose main feast day is 14 September. The former retains its connection with els Fadrins, the young people who traditionally took responsibility for organising the celebrations honouring the Virgin.
Patronal festivities and Moors and Christians
The proclamation in Plaza de la Torre, the Moorish and Christian embassies in the castle courtyard, music, gunpowder and processions shape the Cristo celebrations. Clavarios, comparsas, bands, the parish, associations and the Town Council take part in events held across the historic centre and the parish church.
Other local celebrations
San Antonio is usually celebrated in January with bonfires and the blessing of animals, while the Fallas bring monuments, parades, music and fireworks to the streets in March. The cultural calendar also includes the Festa del Dux, which recalls the Visigothic heritage of Pla de Nadal and València la Vella through crafts, food and historical re-enactment.
