Local festivals in Paterna

Paterna's Fiestas Mayores in honour of the Santísimo Cristo de la Fe and San Vicente Ferrer bring together the town's three themes, summed up as Foc, festa i fe, in the second half of August.

Usual celebration

The cycle lasts for about two weeks from the opening speech. Moorish and Christian comparsas parade through the streets and re-enact King Jaume I's entry; religious events honour the Cristo de la Fe and San Vicente Ferrer; and the Cordà concentrates the firework tradition in Calle Mayor during the early hours after the last Sunday in August. The Town Council, Federación Intercomparsas, comparsas, local clubs and clavarios organise and support the events.

Local public holidays in 2026

The Generalitat Valenciana resolution declares 13 April, San Vicente Ferrer, and 31 August, Santísimo Cristo de la Fe, as paid, non-recoverable local public holidays. The second date falls within the festival cycle, but does not make every festival day a non-working holiday.

Other cultural events

The local calendar also includes San Antonio Abad in January, the March Fallas, Holy Week and San Pedro; within the Fiestas Mayores, the Jocs Florals, Coets d'Or, music, theatre and exhibitions add a cultural programme.
