Local festivals in Cheste
The Virgen de la Soledad Gloriosa patronal festivities are usually celebrated on a variable date linked to Easter and last for several days. Religious observances dedicated to the patron, the romería and participation by clavaris and associations traditionally culminate in the horse-led Entrá through the town's streets.
San Lucas and the grape harvest
The San Lucas Evangelista festivities are held during the first weeks of October and express Cheste's wine-growing traditions at the end of the harvest, particularly the moscatel crop. The Pisá de la Uva opens the cycle with young people in traditional chestano and chestana dress, treading grapes in a barrel and offering the must to the patron. Dances, food traditions, decorated streets, wine-themed displays and the horse-led Entrá complete the celebration.
Other celebrations: Fallas and the San José parade
On 19 March, the two local Fallas committees stage the San José parade. Falleros and falleras travel along Calle Chiva on floats made by hand by the committees themselves, in a celebration linking collective craftsmanship, traditional dress, music and Fallas culture.
