Local festivals in Algemesí
The Festa de la Mare de Déu de la Salut is usually celebrated over two days, 7 and 8 September. Recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, it brings the four historic neighbourhoods together through processions, music, dance and traditional performances.
Muixeranga and ritual dances
The Muixeranga groups participate by raising human towers to the sound of the dolçaina and tabalet. Els Bastonets, Carxofa, Arquets, Pastoretes, Bolero and Tornejants form a procession passed down between generations, turning the streets into a living museum of Valencian culture.
Other celebrations and processions
The Nit del Retorn opens the cycle with the bells of the Basilica of Sant Jaume. The Processó de les Promeses, Processoneta del Matí and Volta General pass through the historic centre with the image of the Mare de Déu de la Salut and the participation of the festival groups.
