Local festivals in Vila-real
Vila-real has two major patronal seasons: Sant Pasqual Baylón in mid-May and the Mare de Déu de Gràcia in early September. The Junta de Festes, festival clubs, associations and the Town Council organise programmes that combine devotion, music, food, sport and street celebrations.
Usual celebration
The Sant Pasqual festivities begin on the Friday before 17 May and end on the following Sunday. The basilica, Plaça de Sant Pasqual, Plaça Major and the festival clubs host the solemn Mass, procession, mascletà and Nit de la Xulla, which is recognised as a Festival of Provincial Tourist Interest. In September, the pilgrimage from the Mare de Déu de Gràcia chapel opens a further ten days of patronal festivities.
Other events
The local calendar also includes the Matxà de Sant Antoni in January, the town-foundation week in February, Holy Week processions and the Santa Caterina pre-Christmas fair, held around the final Sunday in November.
