The major festivities of Cristo de la Paz are usually celebrated from 12 to 16 September, with the 14th as their principal day. Devotion to the image dates back to the seventeenth century and is expressed through the alborada, matins, flower offering, service, procession, novena and the singing of the Gozos.
Peñas, floats and fireworks
The peñas parade through the streets with brass bands and despertàs, take part in costume parades and build the floats for the final procession. Correfocs, mascletaes and firework displays accompany a celebration in which music and neighbourhood participation play a central role.
Other celebrations: Hogueras and neighbourhood festivities
The Hogueras are celebrated from 20 to 24 June in honour of San Juan Bautista, with the plantà, street parades, flower offering, mascletà, procession and cremà. Holy Week and celebrations in Fabraquer, Benimagrell, Salafranca and other neighbourhoods, organised by their festival committees, complete the local calendar.
