Local festivals of Elche

Las Festivals in August of Elche They are usually concentrated from 7 to 15 August. The nine-day duration culminates with the Assumption of the Virgin. The Misteri d'Elx occupies the Basilica of Santa María: the Vespra is performed on the 14th and the Festa on the 15th. During the intervening night the Roà is celebrated, while the Night of l'Albà turns the sky over the entire city into a pyrotechnic spectacle on 13 August.

Traditions include Moors and Christians, the Entrance of Bands, parades, mascletaes and the offering, distributed throughout the historic centre, the Basilica, the surroundings of the Municipal Park and the festive venues. The City Council, the Misteri Board of Trustees, the Popular Celebrations Management Federation, the Camp d'Elx Festers Union, troupes, commissions, pyrotechnics, neighbors and visitors participate. Each event maintains its own organisation within the festive cycle.
