Local festivals in El Campello
The Virgen del Carmen festivities are usually celebrated around 16 July and reflect the seafaring tradition of Carrer la Mar. Events extend over several days and culminate in the maritime procession, the transfer of the image to its chapel, the singing of the Salve and a fireworks display.
Moors and Christians
From 11 to 15 October, the comparsas celebrate the Moors and Christians festival in honour of the Mare de Déu dels Desemparats. The Moorish landing on the beach opens the festive story, followed by embassies, the entrances of both sides, parades, music and a flower offering.
Other celebrations and local participation
The fishers’ guild participates in the Virgen del Carmen celebrations, while the Junta Festera de Moros i Cristians coordinates the comparsas with the Department of Festivals and Traditions. The fishing harbour, Carrer la Mar beach and streets of the town centre are key settings for both patronal festivals.
