Local festivals in Calp

The Virgen de las Nieves patronal festivities are usually celebrated over several days in early August. The Entrà de la Murta opens celebrations featuring a flower offering at the church, a service, a procession, mascletaes in Plaza Mayor and the Castell a la Mar, a firework display launched beside Arenal-Bol beach.

Moors and Christians

Around 22 October, the filaes honour Santíssim Crist de la Suor with Moorish and Christian entrances, festive music, a landing, battles and a procession. El Miracle, a piece of popular theatre, recalls the town’s defence against the pirate attack of 1744.

Virgen del Carmen

Among Calp’s other celebrations, the Fishermen’s Guild, its festival association and the Town Council maintain the seafaring celebration in July. After events in the old town, the harbour hosts the flower offering, the procession at sea and a tribute to those who lost their lives there.
