Local festivals in Puerto Lumbreras

The patronal festivities in honour of the Virgen del Rosario are usually celebrated during the first week of October and culminate around the 7th. The float parade, craft market, daytime fair, floral offering, Mass and procession bring residents and visitors together around Avenida Juan Carlos I, Plaza de la Constitución, the parish church and Rambla de Nogalte.

Baile de la Reina and local participation

The Baile de la Reina is usually held several weeks earlier, in September, as a prelude to the main festivities. The gala began in 1957 and retains the selection of the festival queen as one of its defining features. The Town Council organises the cycle with the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Trust, associations, hospitality businesses, traders, local clubs, folk groups and municipal services.

Other celebrations

The San Juan neighbourhood festivities usually last several days in June and combine community gatherings, music and popular traditions. The summer cultural calendar also brings folklore, dance and meetings to different venues across Puerto Lumbreras, with academies, bands, clubs and local groups taking part.
