Local festivals in Las Torres de Cotillas

The Nuestra Señora de la Salceda patronal festivities are usually celebrated over several days during the second half of August. The pilgrimage, flower and produce offering and procession for the patron saint share the calendar with peñas, float parades, folklore, music, sport and community food gatherings.

La Quema del Raspajo

The Quema del Raspajo closes the festivities with fire and pyrotechnics. The papier-mâché figure represents the municipality's agricultural past and, since its creation in 2003, has become one of its festive symbols. The peñas sustain much of the community participation throughout the celebration.

Other celebrations: Holy Week and Carnival

Local confraternities participate in solemn Holy Week processions, which preserve the Baile de los Santos, also known as El Encuentro, as a distinctive part of the Resurrection celebration. Carnival completes the cycle with comparsas, peñas, costumes and choreographed street parades.
