Local festivals in Beniel

The San Bartolomé patronal festivities are usually celebrated for several days around 24 August. The Baroque church of San Bartolomé, Plaza Ramón y Cajal and the town-centre streets host religious events, float parades, music, sport and community gatherings. The Town Council, parish, associations, clubs and residents take part in organising the festive days.

Verbena del chusco

One of the most distinctive events is the verbena del chusco, a popular open-air gathering where warm bread with olive oil and salt is shared. The square and nearby streets become a meeting place for families, local groups and visitors, while music and market-garden traditions accompany the patronal festivities.

Other celebrations: Candelaria and outlying villages

Candelaria on 2 February brings devotion to the Virgen del Rosario together with mass and a pyrotechnic tradition closely linked to local memory. El Raiguero, El Mojón and La Basca also hold their own community festival days, where committees, associations and residents maintain music, sport, food gatherings and customs from the market garden.
