Local festivals in Manzanares el Real
The Virgen de Peña Sacra festivities are usually celebrated over several days in early June. The image is welcomed at the Virgen stone beside the old castle, followed by the traditional Salve, a procession to Nuestra Señora de las Nieves church, a floral offering and mass. The parish, brotherhood, music band and residents take part in one of the municipality's principal devotions.
Cristo de la Nave
Around 14 September, the Cristo de la Nave festival, honouring the patron of Manzanares el Real, brings together solemn mass and a procession through the town centre. The Santísimo Cristo Brotherhood prepares the traditional lemonade, while Plaza del Pueblo and the old castle host community gatherings, music and fireworks with support from the Town Council and local associations.
Other celebrations: summer festivities
Between late July and early August, the summer festivities usually last several days and bring club activities, brass bands, games and shared food events to the streets. The Ruta del Cañeo, the mock bull run and the community meal of bull stew with potatoes are traditions shared by groups of friends, families and visitors.
