Local festivals in Humanes de Madrid
The Santísimo Cristo de la Agonía popular festivities are usually celebrated over several days in the second half of September. The local clubs’ parade and opening speech lead to Plaza de la Constitución, while Mass and a procession preserve devotion to the Cristo through the town’s streets.
Local clubs and bull-running tradition
Daytime and night-time bull runs, bull-related events and a transhumance display form part of the festive tradition. Local clubs, associations, the Town Council, Banda Municipal Villa de Humanes, local services and residents also participate in street parades, children’s activities, music and gatherings in the square and fairground.
Other celebrations: Virgen del Amor Hermoso
On the last Sunday in May, the Virgen del Amor Hermoso festival gives centre stage to the mayordomas of its women’s brotherhood, a tradition passed down for more than a century and a half. Wearing a black mantilla in the morning and a white one later in the day, they participate in a street parade, Mass, floral offering, procession and dancing in Plaza de la Constitución.
