Local festivals in Guadarrama

The festivities in honour of San Miguel Arcángel and San Francisco de Asís are usually celebrated for about a week between 29 September and the first days of October. Patronal Mass and the procession are combined with music, local-club activities, communal meals, family events and a bullfighting fair in Plaza Mayor, the central streets and municipal venues.

Organisation and mountain-town participation

The Town Council's Festivals Department organises the cycle with the parish, brotherhoods, local clubs, associations, organisations and municipal services. The opening address, club gatherings, street parades and religious observances make these days one of Guadarrama's main community occasions.

Other events: Virgen de La Jarosa pilgrimage

In August, the Virgen de La Jarosa brings several days of religious and community events linking the town centre with her chapel beside the reservoir. The pilgrimage, offering, Mass and gathering in the pinewoods involve the Hermandad de Romeros, local clubs, horse riders, families and residents. The chapel was built in 1956 by local volunteers coordinated by the parish.
