Festivals in El Boalo
Discover the festivals of El Boalo, a municipality of three villages where winter and summer patronal celebrations combine bonfires, processions, peñas, bull runs and community suppers.
Local festivals in El Boalo
The El Boalo summer festivities are usually celebrated over five days in early July. The proclamation and presentation of the peñas open a programme of brass bands, community gatherings and music across Plaza de la Constitución and the fairground; the bullring hosts bull runs and other bull-related events, while La Mojá, La Pelá and a community supper mark the closing day.
San Sebastián
Around 20 January, the San Sebastián patronal festivities bring together four days of tradition and community life. A bonfire is lit on the eve alongside broth, hot chocolate and tortas de chicharrón; on the patron saint's day, a morning band procession follows the streets before mass and the religious procession, concluding with an aperitif and brass-band music in the village centre.
Other celebrations in Cerceda and Mataelpino
The municipal calendar also includes Cerceda's patronal festivities in late August, honouring the Santísimo Cristo de la Esperanza, and Mataelpino's celebrations dedicated to San Bartolomé. Peñas, cultural associations and the Town Council take part in processions, communal meals, music, games and bull-related traditions held across the squares and venues of the three villages.
