Local festivals in Daganzo de Arriba

The Santísimo Cristo de la Luz and Virgen del Espino patronal festivities are usually celebrated in the days leading up to the first Sunday in September. Devotion to the Virgin is linked to the former settlement of Almazanejo and the chapel built by its inhabitants. Bull-running events form part of the identity of the festivities and bring together different generations of the town.

San Antonio and the June celebrations

Around 13 June, Daganzo honours San Antonio de Padua. Mass, the procession and community festivities occupy the nearest Friday and the surrounding celebration days, with the Town Council, parish, associations and residents taking part.

The Living Passion

Other celebrations include the Living Passion. On Good Friday, more than one hundred residents perform the Passion and Death of Christ around Plaza de la Villa. The pageant began in 1986, uses live voices and sound, and places its scenes around the audience. Confraternities, the Asociación Gólgota and many residents sustain this tradition, recognised as a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest since 2014.
