Local festivals in Ciempozuelos

The patronal festivities of the Virgen del Consuelo are usually celebrated in September. The image leaves its hermitage and is carried through the streets to the parish church of Santa María Magdalena before returning the following day, a tradition documented by the municipality since at least 1711.

Floats, bull runs and community gatherings

The float parade and competition, street processions, bull runs, music in Plaza de la Constitución and food competitions bring together peñas, associations and residents. The hermitage, parish church and town-centre streets form the celebration’s principal settings.

Other celebrations: San Isidro and Carnival

On 15 May, San Isidro brings communal meals to the meadow by the Ermita del Consuelo, together with a gachas competition, lemonade, wafers, chotis dancing and a procession accompanied by the municipal band. Carnival retains its fancy-dress parade and Burial of the Sardine.
