Local festivals in Algete
The Santísimo Cristo de la Esperanza patronal festivities are usually celebrated over several days in September, with a principal day around the 12th. The novena, floral offering, Mass, procession through the streets and auction of the standard and places on the float preserve the celebration’s religious character.
Local clubs, bull runs and community gatherings
Bull runs and other bull-related events form part of local tradition, together with the opening speech, street parades, music and paella competition. The Hermandad del Santísimo Cristo de la Esperanza, local clubs, the Town Council and residents participate in festivities held at the fairground and across the town centre.
Other celebrations: Virgen de las Flores
The Virgen de las Flores festivities complete Algete’s traditional calendar. This devotion and the Cristo de la Esperanza patronal festivities are the two celebrations planned by the municipal Culture, Fairs and Festivals department with local associations and organisations.
