Local festivals in Santo Domingo de la Calzada

The town's leading celebration is the Fiestas del Santo, recognised as a Festival of National Tourist Interest and linked to the town's founder. Every May, the Brotherhood of the Saint, the Council and local residents maintain a sequence of religious and community events in the historic centre.

Usual celebration

12 May is the main day. The gaita and drum, molletes, branches, prioresses, wheel, maidens, Santito and San Isidro connect the central days with preparations beginning in late April. The cathedral, Plaza del Santo, Plaza de España and Paseo del Espolón host many of the routes and gatherings.

Other events

The town's festival year continues with the Gracias and San Jerónimo Hermosilla festivities in September and the Ferias de la Concepción in December, alongside its cultural and Camino de Santiago programme.
