Local festivals in Logroño

San Bernabé, Logroño's patron, commemorates the city's resistance during the siege of 1521; San Mateo and the Riojan Harvest Festival provide the town's other major festival period in September.

Usual tradition

Around 11 June, several days of a Renaissance market, military camps and historical re-enactments occupy the old town, Parque del Ebro and the Murallas del Revellín. The Voto de San Bernabé is expressed through the distribution of bread, fish and wine, the luminarias, Mass and procession and the mayor's ceremonial flag-waving. The city council, Cofradía Logroñesa de San Bernabé, peñas, cultural associations and volunteers organise the events.

Programme for 2026

The official edition ran from 6 to 12 June with about 300 events. The opening cannon sounded outside the Arco de San Bernabé on the 6th, followed by the opening of the market and the Logroño and French camps. On the 11th, bread, fish and wine were distributed at the Revellín, while the co-cathedral of La Redonda hosted Mass before the procession and ceremonial flag-waving at Arco del Revellín, Cuatro Cantones and the Muralla.

Local public holidays in 2026

The city council proposed, and the official calendar records, 11 June, San Bernabé, and 21 September, San Mateo, as Logroño's local non-working public holidays. They are two specific days off and do not represent the full duration of either festival cycle.

Other events

San Mateo preserves grape-treading and the offering of the first must as harvest symbols, alongside peña activities, concerts and food and cultural events at venues across the city.
