Local festivals in Tui
The patronal San Telmo festivities are usually celebrated for about ten days after Easter and culminate on San Telmo Monday. The cathedral, A Corredoira, Praza da Inmaculada, San Bartolomeu and the historic streets host religious observances, parades, giants and big-head figures, bands, folk culture, sport and food gatherings.
Procession, brotherhood and cross-border participation
Morning Mass and the procession around the Coronilla precede the solemn evening procession from the cathedral and the offering in Praza de San Telmo. The brotherhood, the diocese, the Town Council, music bands, pipe groups, parish associations, sports clubs and participants from both banks of the Miño sustain a celebration recognised as being of Galician Tourist Interest.
Other celebrations: Festa do Miño
In August, the Festa do Miño usually brings together a riverside pilgrimage gathering at Caldelas, popular and international canoe descents and a food festival run with Tui's cultural associations. The river, street music and dishes prepared by parish groups connect sport, landscape and local community life.
