Local festivals in Silleda
The Silleda summer festivities are usually celebrated over several days in July. The opening rocket from the town hall begins a cycle of concerts, open-air dances, street parades and performances by local bands in the town's squares and streets. The Festa do Lacón brings together residents, the festival committee and Asociación Cultural O Lacón for a tasting of this local dish in Praza Juan Salgueiro.
Bandeira's Festa da Empanada
In the second half of August, Bandeira holds its Festa da Empanada over several days, a celebration recognised as a Festival of National Tourist Interest. The oak grove hosts the empanada competition and tasting, the gathering of peñas, traditional music and concerts; Asociación Amigos da Empanada organises the event with the support of the Town Council, the bands of Bandeira, Silleda and Merza, and other local groups.
