Local festivals in Ponteareas
Corpus Christi is Ponteareas's emblematic celebration, recognised as a Festival of International Tourist Interest and an Asset of Cultural Interest. Its defining feature is the floral carpets made overnight by neighbourhood carpet-making groups to receive Sunday's procession.
Usual celebration
The festival fills Corpus week and reaches its central moment on Saturday night, when streets in the town centre are covered with designs made from flowers and plant materials. Religious services and the procession take place on Sunday along a route of more than one kilometre of carpets, with residents organised into separate sections.
Other events
The municipal calendar also includes Festival Groba in August and the September Festivities, featuring the traditional Remedios fair, music, folklore, food and sport.
