Local festivals of Verín

The Entroido de Verín, a festival of national tourist interest, fills the town's streets with Cigarróns, its emblematic masked figures, as well as brass bands, carnival groups and a sequence of days with their own distinctive traditions.

Usual celebration

The cycle includes Xoves de Compadres, Sábado do Capuchón, Domingo de Corredoiro, Xoves de Comadres and the central Entroido days. Routes run along Avenida de Castela, through the central streets and into Praza da Alameda and Praza García Barbón. The trial and burning of the Maragato, gatherings of Cigarróns, parades, street music and participation by local schools are among its characteristic events. Verín Council organises the programme with residents, carnival groups, associations, musicians and local businesses taking part.

The Remedios festival is Verín's main local celebration in September.
