Festivals in Santa Comba
Discover the festivals of Santa Comba, from the San Pedro patronal festivities to rural pilgrimages and fairs that bring together the wider Xallas area.
Local festivals in Santa Comba
The San Pedro patronal festivities are usually celebrated around 29 June, with the parish church and Campo da Feira serving as the main gathering places. Mass, the procession, band music and open-air dances bring together the parish, festival committees, the Town Council and residents from the town and surrounding villages.
Rubín and Vilamaior pilgrimages
The rural calendar preserves pilgrimages linked to sanctuaries and springs. At Rubín, in the parish of Cícere, devotion to the Virxe da Saúde particularly draws families who bring their children. At Nosa Señora de Vilamaior, pilgrims maintain the custom of washing skin ailments with a cloth dipped in the Virxe spring, leaving the cloth there and walking around the church.
Other events: the Xallas fairs
Santa Comba's regular fairs occupy the two avenues of Campo da Feira and preserve the area's trading tradition. They take place on the Saturday before the first Sunday and on the Mondays following the second and third Sundays of each month, with stalls selling food, textiles, plants, furniture and agricultural machinery that reflect the municipality's farming and commercial identity.
