Local festivals in Fene

The San Salvador patronal festivities are usually celebrated for two days around 6 August. Praza do Alcalde Ramón J. Souto and the town streets host music, entertainment, food and family activities; the Town Council, associations, music groups, hospitality businesses and residents maintain a celebration historically linked to the parish of San Salvador de Fene.

O Pote pilgrimage

On the last Sunday in August, Maniños hosts a secular pilgrimage founded in 1933 and organised by A.C.R.D. O Pote. During the preceding days, young people and groups of friends build huts from gorse, broom and fennel and prepare communal meals; the main day includes games, sport, food and performances by folk groups, with participants arriving from different parishes.

Other events and parish celebrations

Barallobre and Maniños celebrate the Virgen del Carmen in July with maritime processions, while the calendar also includes Santiago in Barallobre, Santa Mariña, San Ramón and San Roque in Sillobre, San Xurxo in Magalofes and San Esteban in Perlío. Neighbourhood committees, parishes, musicians, seafarers, cultural associations and families thus spread the festivities across the municipality.
