Local festivals in Boiro
The Festas do Verán are usually celebrated over several days in early July. Praza de Galicia, Praza do Centro Social, Parque da Cachada and Barraña beach host the opening speech, dawn music, tavern singing, traditional dance and music, club gatherings, evening dances and a firework display. The Council coordinates the festival with the municipality's cultural, musical and neighbourhood groups.
Virxe do Carme in Cabo de Cruz
Cabo de Cruz honours the Virxe do Carme for several days around 16 July. The image is carried from the church to the fish market, where Mass is held before the maritime procession. Street music, traditional games, music and an evening dance complete a celebration rooted in the fishing community.
Other celebrations: San Ramón de Bealo pilgrimage
The San Ramón pilgrimage brings pilgrims to Bealo around 31 August and continues for several days with the carrying of the saints uphill and back down, Masses, dance groups and evening dances. The tradition has more than two and a half centuries of history and is recognised as a Festival of Tourist Interest in Galicia.
