Local festivals in Vila-seca
The winter Festa Major is usually celebrated over several days around 17 January in honour of Sant Antoni Abat. Its most distinctive event is the Cós de Sant Antoni, a series of galloping horse races at the Parc de la Torre d’en Dolça equestrian circuit, first documented in writing in 1876.
Sant Antoni and the Seguici Tradicional
The Tres Tombs, the Seguici Tradicional street procession and the Festa del Foc accompany the winter celebration. Diables, giants, grallers, trabucaires, stick dancers, esbarts and human-tower groups show the range of cultural associations that sustain the town’s festive heritage.
Other celebrations: summer Festa Major
The summer main festival usually runs between the celebrations of Sant Jaume and Sant Esteve, with events in Vila-seca and La Pineda. On 3 August it maintains its connection with Sant Esteve and the Ball parlat de Sant Esteve, documented since 1775, which combines music, dance and recitation around the legend of the Rescue of the Hundred Maidens.
