Local festivals in Les Borges Blanques

The Festa Major and Fira de l'Oli shape a calendar connected with popular culture and the olive-oil identity of the capital of les Garrigues.

Usual celebration

The Festa Major is usually celebrated around the first Sunday in September and lasts from Saturday to Tuesday. The Town Council and Comissió de Festes organise events in Parc del Terrall, Plaça de l'U d'Octubre, the penyes area and other venues, with giants, grallers, correfoc, music, children's activities and popular culture. The municipal calendar has set the 2026 edition for 4 to 8 September, but no schedule of events absent from the source is included here.

Local public holidays in 2026

The Generalitat de Catalunya's official calendar declares 7 and 8 September 2026 as local public holidays in Les Borges Blanques. Those two non-working days coincide with that year's Festa Major, but they do not make the full period from 4 to 8 September a public holiday.

Other events and cultural dates

The Fira de l'Oli d'Oliva Verge Extra is held around Sant Antoni and combines a trade fair with the promotion of local olive oil. The traditional calendar also includes the Cavalcada dels Tres Tombs, the paella competition on Passeig del Terrall, the Sant Cristòfol and Sant Salvador aplecs, Aplec de la Sardana and Sardanadal, with organisations, residents and visitors taking part.
