Local festivals in Guissona
The Festa Major and the Sant Cristòfol celebrations sum up a calendar involving the Town Council, popular-culture groups, local organisations and residents.
Usual celebration
The Festa Major is usually celebrated in early September, with 8 September as its reference date. It lasts several days and uses the Església de Santa Maria, Plaça Major, Plaça Bisbe Benlloch, the sports area and other town venues for bell ringing, a parade of giants and big-head figures, an opening speech, sardanes, castellers, concerts and family events.
Programme for 2025 (documented previous edition)
The municipal programme for 2025, which is not presented as the 2026 programme, ran its main section from 4 to 8 September. It included the opening of an exhibition at the Museu de Guissona, the Colla Gegantera parade, performances by the Margeners de Guissona, intercultural activities and the Mare de Déu del Claustre solemnity with a floral offering at the Església de Santa Maria.
Local public holidays in 2026
The Town Council's official calendar declares 25 May, Segona Pasqua, and 8 September, Festa Major, as Guissona's local public holidays in 2026. These are the two local non-working days; they do not cover the full duration of the celebrations.
Other events and cultural dates
The Sant Cristòfol festival maintains the Tres Tombs circuit and the blessing of vehicles. In the edition held on 11 July 2026, a parade with the Colla Gegantera and a brass band preceded Mass, the procession and the decorated-vehicle competition, with municipal authorities and residents taking part.
