Festivals in Cervera

Discover the festivals of Cervera, where the Santíssim Misteri and Sant Crist town festivals share the calendar with Sant Magí and the fire culture of the Aquelarre.

Local festivals in Cervera

The Santíssim Misteri Festa Major is usually celebrated on 5 and 6 February, with religious observances and popular culture linked to Santa Maria church. In late September, the Sant Crist Festa Major lasts several days and features solemn worship, bell ringing, giants, gralla players, devils, historical musketeers, sardanes and participation by the municipal corporation.

Sant Magí and neighbourhood festivals

In mid-August, the Sant Magí festival maintains the neighbourhood tradition and brings together residents, organisations and popular-culture performers. Neighbourhood festivities, Corpus and other religious celebrations add bells, giants, music and processions through the streets of the historic centre.

Other celebrations: Aquelarre and Gran Boc

On the last weekend in August, the Aquelarre de Cervera transforms the old town's streets and squares for several days with fire, music, witches, devils and fantastic figures. The parade moves from the University to Plaça Major, where the appearance of the Mascle Cabró gives shape to a festival organised by the City Council with the city's cultural associations; the Gran Boc fair adds to the celebrations.
