Local festivals in Cassà de la Selva

The usual celebration of the Festa Major lasts five days between late May and early June. Plaça Petita, Passeig Vilaret, decorated streets and cultural venues host the proclamation, parades, sardana dancing, giants, castellers, concerts, communal meals and games. The Town Council, Festival Committee, cultural groups, colles, musicians, traders and residents sustain the celebration.

Nit dels Músics and popular culture

Nit dels Músics, founded in 1976, brings together instrumentalists connected with Cassà and musicians from elsewhere in Catalonia for a major sardana event during Festa Major. Amics de la Sardana, cobles, the giants' troupe and other associations maintain the dances, parades and festive expressions that identify the town.

Other events: Santa Tecla and cork traditions

The Santa Tecla Fair usually lasts a September weekend. Originating in the fifteenth century and known as the Festa Petita, it fills Plaça de la Coma and Passeig Vilaret with a fair, shops, crafts, sardana dancing, Nit del Cremat, Sopar de Tapes and Sopar de la Botifarra. The Cork and Stopper Fair, held in late May or early June, adds demonstrations, visits and food linked to the town's cork-making heritage.
