Local festivals in Tordera

The Festa Major de Sant Bartomeu is usually celebrated for more than a week in the second half of August, around the 24th. The opening speech, correfocs, sardanes, concerts, barraques and gatherings of local groups fill Plaça de l'Església, Plaça de l'Ajuntament, Camí Ral and Parc Prudenci Bertrana. The Town Council prepares the festival with local organisations, the festival committee and many volunteers.

Cursa del Cos and popular culture

The Cursa del Cos is run every 24 August and is one of the historic events associated with Sant Bartomeu. Residents of different ages take part around Camí Ral, with prizes awarded in Plaça de l'Ajuntament. The Colla de Geganters i Grallers then leads a street parade and the traditional Batiada sweet shower.

Other celebrations: Sant Ponç and the Fira Mercat del Ram

On 11 May, the Aplec de Sant Ponç brings residents to the natural setting around the chapel for popular events. During Palm Sunday weekend, the century-old Fira Mercat del Ram occupies Parc Prudenci Bertrana with crafts and local produce, farming and livestock activity, commerce and a showcase for the municipality's associations.
