Local festivals in Sitges

The Sant Bartomeu Festa Major is usually celebrated in August and has its central days on the 23rd and 24th in the historic centre. The eve and patron saint’s day bring together the opening speech, twenty-one ceremonial firecrackers, the grallers’ entrance, the appearance of festival figures and folk dances, the civic procession, fireworks and the religious procession.

Santa Tecla and festive heritage

On 22 and 23 September, the Santa Tecla Festa Major presents much of the town’s festive heritage and gives children a particularly prominent role. The children’s morning procession fills the streets with big-head figures, dragons built by children, traditional dances and junior fire groups, alongside processions and human-tower displays.

Other celebrations

For Corpus Christi, residents and associations cover the streets with flower carpets and accompany the procession among decorated courtyards, balconies and façades. The local calendar also preserves Carnival, the seafaring Virgen del Carmen festival, the Virgen del Vinyet celebration and the Grape Harvest Festival.
