Local festivals in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia
Fires i Festes are usually celebrated from 6 to 9 September and last four days. Originating as an agricultural market before the grape harvest, they bring together an opening speech, horse parade, giants, sardanes, exhibitions, music and activities by local associations in the town-centre squares and streets.
Phylloxera Festival
On 7 and 8 September, Associació Festa de la Fil·loxera depicts the town's struggle against the pest that devastated its vineyards in the late nineteenth century. Fire, music, insect figures and grape growers move through the centre towards the final victory dance in Plaça de l'Església, while the children's version brings younger generations into the tradition.
Other celebrations: main festival and neighbourhoods
On 30 November, the main festival honours Sant Sadurní with cultural, traditional and religious events. At the beginning of June, Festa dels Barris links a week of celebrations organised by different neighbourhoods; Carnival, Sant Joan and events connected with cava and community life complete the calendar.
