Local festivals in Parets del Vallès
The summer Festa Major is usually celebrated on the last Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday of July. The opening speech from the Town Hall balcony begins four days of street theatre, music, dances, fairground attractions and popular culture. Parc de la Linera and Plaça de la Vila host many of the events, while breakfast at the Can Serra threshing floor precedes a parade of giants, gralles and drums through the Barri Antic.
Winter Festa Major and Sant Sebastià
The winter festival is usually held on the last complete weekend of January and preserves the memory of the town's historic vow to Sant Sebastià. Events begin on Friday and continue until Monday, with concerts, traditional activities and a communal calçot meal outside Can Butjosa. Revived in 1994, the celebration combines tradition with contemporary performances.
Other celebrations and popular culture
The Town Council's Culture Department and Taula d'Entitats plan the festivals with municipal associations. The Gegants, Grallers i Bestiari and Diables groups, together with gitanes dancers, sardana groups and castellers, take part in street parades, dances, correfocs and gatherings that keep popular culture active in streets and squares throughout the year.
