Local festivals in Olesa de Montserrat
The Santa Oliva festivities are usually celebrated during the days leading up to 10 June, the patron saint’s feast day. The floral offering at the chapel above the porch on Carrer de Santa Oliva brings together the Town Council, social, sporting and cultural organisations and residents, alongside the popular-culture procession, sardana dancing, giants, bastoners, diables and the craft and food fair.
Sant Joan Festa Major
The Festa Major is usually celebrated around 24 June and traces its roots to the fair granted to the town by Peter the Ceremonious in 1366. The proclamation, giants, sardana dancing, correfoc fire run, Sant Joan celebration, concerts, dances, sporting gatherings and firework display occupy squares, parks and municipal venues.
Other celebrations: Miquelets and neighbourhood festivals
At the beginning of October, the Festa dels Miquelets recreates episodes from the War of the Spanish Succession connected with Memorial 158. Neighbourhood festivals organised by residents’ associations complete a calendar in which the Town Council and local organisations maintain Olesa’s popular culture.
