Local festivals in Matadepera
The Festa Major is usually celebrated over several days in late August. Plaça de l'Ajuntament, Plaça de Cal Baldiró, Sant Joan church, El Bosquet and the town-centre streets host the opening speech, bell ringing, parades, music, competitions, shared meals and events for different age groups.
Giants, band and local organisations
The cercavila brings together the Matadepera Band, Gegants i Gegantons, Matukada and guest groups on a route through the centre, accompanied by square dances. The Town Council, Amics dels Gegants, cultural and sports organisations, the parish, associations and residents sustain a festival with strong community participation.
Other celebrations: Sant Sebastià and Sant Llorenç
In January, the Festes de Sant Sebastià centre on the pine tree, with its descent, stripping and raising in the square, alongside forestry demonstrations and popular events. On 10 August, the Festa de Sant Llorenç brings participants together at the summit of La Mola, around the monastery, for mass, a procession, traditional hymns and a community gathering; the celebration recovered its present form in 1973.
