Local festivals in Cervelló
The Festa Major is usually celebrated over several days, from the last weekend in July into early August. The opening speech, Ball dels Seixantins, community supper, havaneres, sardanes, gala dance, bell ringing and solemn mass bring residents together in Parc de la Timba, Plaça de l'Ajuntament, Carrer Major and other venues around the town centre.
Santa Maria festival and gathering
In September, the Festa de Santa Maria de Cervelló is the town's smaller annual festival. The gathering centres on Santa Maria church below the castle, with mass, the blessing of small loaves, giants, sardanes and community fellowship. The Town Council, parish, cultural organisations and traditional music and dance groups take part in the events.
Other celebrations: Corpus and Tres Tombs
Corpus decorates parts of the town centre with altars and flower carpets. The revived Tres Tombs, held with Grup Eqüestre, brings horses and carriages along Carrer Major and Rambla Josep Tarradellas before the animals are blessed outside Sant Esteve church. Carnival, Sant Jordi, Sant Joan and the Cervelló Fair complete a calendar rooted in the streets and local organisations.
